Starting today, applications for the "Photovoltaics in the Field" program are open – This applies to all professional farmers

The Ministry of Environment and Energy announced the "Photovoltaics in the Field" program, with a budget of €30 million, which begins today, Tuesday, April 9, at noon.

The announcement of the program was signed by the Minister, Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis, the Deputy Minister, Ms. Alexandra Sdoukou, and the Alternate Minister, Mr. Nikos Papathanasis.

This program supports the installation of photovoltaic stations up to 50 kW by professional farmers, farmers under special status, and agricultural businesses. Interested parties must have an active agricultural connection and be registered in the Register of Farmers and Agricultural Enterprises for the current year in order to become energy autonomous. This means they will be able to produce their own "green" energy and reduce their energy costs.

Beneficiaries will receive a 30% subsidy and up to €350 per kW, with the subsidy not accumulating with other de minimis aid.

For applications up to 30 kW, net metering will apply, while for applications from 31 kW to 50 kW, consumption that coincides with the production of the photovoltaic station will be offset, and any surplus production will be compensated at a fixed price by the Renewable Energy Sources and Guarantees of Origin Administrator (DAPEEP).

A necessary condition for submitting an application is that the beneficiary must not have undertaken any work or order for the photovoltaic station.

If they have more than one agricultural connection, they can submit an application for funding a photovoltaic station of up to 50 kW for each connection.

Applications for funding under the program will be accepted until May 15, 2024, through an online platform, using TAXISNET credentials.

The applications will be categorized into two priority groups based on their submission date, until the budget is exhausted:

  1. Priority Group A: Photovoltaics up to 10.8 kW
  2. Priority Group B: Photovoltaics over 10.8 kW and up to 50 kW

Applications will be ranked chronologically, and there will also be alternates.

This initiative is implemented with the support of the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

It should be noted that today marks the end of the application period for the "Photovoltaics on the Roof" program for professional farmers for up to 10.8 kW, while applications from households continue.

The Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thodoros Skylakakis, stated: "At the Ministry, we have designed a program aimed at reducing the cost of electricity for all professional farmers. This is achieved through the installation of photovoltaic stations up to 50 kW with a 30% subsidy of the total cost. This initiative is a continuation of the recent reform bill, which also includes the 'Apollo' program for supporting vulnerable households and other entities."

The Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Ms. Alexandra Sdoukou, added: "Professional farmers can now, through a simple process, submit their application for the 'Photovoltaics in the Field' program and receive a 30% subsidy for the installation of photovoltaic stations up to 50 kW. Recognizing the pressure from the cost of electricity, we have taken a series of initiatives to alleviate farmers. With this action, we are fulfilling the Prime Minister's commitment to reduce electricity bills.".
